Meet our team
Dozens of talented people contributed to Kalusa in important ways, but following persons are the core of Team Kalusa:
Martina – main author
Started with hardcore geekdom even before the Cold War ended – her dad brought a Sinclair ZX Spectrum computer from Western Germany in 1988.
Later she branched into boardgames, card games, fanfics, gamebooks and TTRPGs. Fascinated mainly by stuff that includes a dense story and memorable characters, she gradually developed her own style of RPG storytelling and game design.
A crazy cat lady and proud of it. Besides writing RPG supplements, she also organizes game events and used to run a hobby store.
Quendy – quality control
A royalty hailing from Siberia, she oversees all Martina's writing and swiftly punishes her mistakes, like letting an unlocked notebook unattended.
Jay – project lead
First taking up the GMing mantle at the ripe age of nine, he started to tinker with the rules almost straight away. He learned how to count probabilities and a few other things since then.
Got to know Martina through RPGs when he first came to Prague, and was onboarded to her project sometime around 2016, at the time as a consultant and secondary writer. Later came up with the plan to get it international.
Likes to play everything from old-school dungeon-crawls to experimental storygames, with a special soft spot for any attempts to mix things up. He also loves to travel, reads a lot and plays bass, although not that well.
Jo – translator and #socialmediamancer
Got into RPGs even younger than Jay – because he is her older brother and of course he made her playtest his experiments. Luckily, she did forge through all his early abysmal attempts at making the game as realistic as possible and now likes to play RPGs that are fun.
She was actually Martina’s roommate for a few years, but now lives in Vietnam where she sips avocado smoothies, crochets and takes care of cats from a cat shelter.
Gerald – nap manager
Almost deaf, partially blind and limping, Gerald is too old to get agitated about anything. He just sits on his balcony, and when a new orphaned kitten comes, he teaches them to meow properly.
